It all went swimingly well

Kim Theresa Dodge and I are happy to report that the wedding activities went well. We ever had good weather on Saturday for the wedding. Kim looked lovely in her dress and our songs went down rather well. So well in fact that the DJ, the best man and lots of other people want us to release the tracks to the rest of the world. For those of you who didn't make the wedding the tracks are up on Garageband. My song to Kim is Found and Kim's response to me is New Moon Woman.

Expect loads of shots from the likes of our GoD bassist/ladies man Rob and everyone else at the wedding.

English guests welcomed

null

We have the flag outside the house for James as he arrived for lunch today. It will be on a far larger flag poll round the Dodge family house in East Boothbay on the wedding day. The flag is rather large but does the trick.

Saturday night...alright with transport...

Saturday Kim and her mates went out on a Hen night. Pictures are promised to follow of what they go up to. I understand lots of champagne flowed with mixed results.

The lads, Steve Bettison and David Cuthertson from the Adam Smith Institute were kind enough to organise a bit of a drink meet-up to go on concurently. The turn-out was a bit dire but it was the fault of London's transport system that no only saw the tube near the pub we were to meet closed but the entire Victoria line as well. There were replacement buses clogging up the streets and there was preparation going on to enable a bunch of long-distance running freaks their day on Sunday.

Anyway we all ended up at Decadence to see out the night. Here are a few pics taken with my phone, a couple of better ones from David's new one.

Both newbies to Decadence, the hard rock lounge provided with some amusing events including a bloke with lots of piercings in a dress, a woman wearing a belt sized leather mini-skirt and several ladies dressed as if they just walked out of the set of an 80s hard rock video. So par for the course really. Take that, cheap drinks and some damn fine music for a rather good night.

NB: Thanks to all those who called/texted me to explain their transport problems. Too bad Transport for London couldn't cooperate.

And finally one to scare small children with methinks?

KIM AND ANDREW'S WEDDING INFO
19TH MAY 2007

Firstly, we'd like to thank you for making the effort to come to our special day …….

The wedding base is in Freeport.

We recommend that you fly into Boston, for those of you who are not hiring a car, you can take the Concord Trailways shuttle (coach) (which you get right outside customs at Logan, Boston airport). We can arrange to pick you up in Portland and take you to Freeport if you let us know when you are arriving (Freeport is roughly 25 minute drive from Portland towards the coast).

However, at Portland Bus station you can get a cab 24 hours. They generally sit outside the bus station but you can also pre-book them on 207 671 0123.

We know that many of you have already looked/even booked your accommodation but for those who haven’t here is a link to the Harraseeket Inn. The reception/wedding party hotel (where you get a discount if you mention the Benson/Dodge wedding) The Harraseeket. A very nice place indeed. In addition, if this is not quite what you fancy you can still contact them as they have a wide knowledge of all the accommodation in the area and are very helpful.

We are getting married at The Wilson Memorial Chapel, Ocean Point, East Boothbay at 2.30pm. As far as getting to the wedding itself on the day in Ocean Point. We will be providing transport from the parking lot of the Inn about 2 hours before the wedding. There is a muster point at the bottom of the car park. Our two groomsman Dave Vincent & George Stevens will be overseeing this.

On Thursday 17th May 2007 there will be two events for the wedding party...one for the men and one for the women.

A Bridal shower for the ladies will be hosted by Christine and Charlene at Charlene's House and it will be a luncheon from noon onwards.

For the men: The shooting event will occur Thursday afternoon. It is being co-ordinated by Dave Vincent and Andrew.

Friday is rehearsal day for us in the wedding party so you need to organise yourselves. There is plenty to do in and around Freeport so have fun.

Sunday afternoon there will be a gathering at Gritty McDuff's in Freeport, which will feature music (from the various musos about) and Gritty McDuff's fine beers and food.

Weather: see our wedding weather East Boothbay

Weather in Freeport in May

Extras:

Whale Watching & other boat trips

Salem, Massachusetts is about 2 hours or so from Freeport South. Its near Boston. Make sure you get the right one as just to confuse you there are two ‘Salem’s’.

Welcome

This is to be the wedding blog of Andrew and Kim. Invited guests will be able to find the tip sheet and other interesting elements on this blog. Post wedding we will endeavor to put up our pictures for others who were unable to join us in Ocean Point.
